If so did they sprout around the same time frame? If there are variegated foxladies, they are obvious. What I have noticed is that the width of the foxylady leaves tend to be a little wider and a little more dark hairs on the leaf bases. @here does anyone have Foxy Lady seed they would like to sell? Wanting to put them out but not if they’re not a true hybrid. Hybrids seem to have a higher rate of growth for some reason.

There is a slight blonde strip but that why i asked is the green form Always green or does it have. Appears to be the green form. Never observed even hints of varigation on any of the solid green specimens i have seen in both FL. Now correct me if I am wrong is it true that even the green ones will spit out some variation in its life span ? Do you know if this palm was field grown, dug up, and then placed in its pot? Also the variegation seems to be a morphological example of hybrid decline as the greens show hybrid vigor. The seeds that Mike Evans germinated were F2, there is no guarantee they will be Wodveitchias. Foxtails that I’ve grown all seem to throw one spear and sit for a long time (weeks to months), at which point they resume normal growth. Pretty sure they keep their variegation, at this stage we can already see the difference between the variegated lot and the greenies. I had about 7 seeds so I just planted them all, one popped.
I moved the pot to a shadier spot in my yard and applied copious water this morning, and went home at lunch and gave it another soaking. From what I understand, this tree has been in the pot all along and was not recently potted from a field grown specimen. A plant like this that makes tons of roots hates being in a pot made for Hawaii or FL.
Foxyladies hold the variegation when mature. Here are a few slightly variegated ones. They seem to have an overall hard time surviving. The only exception, would be the ones that are extremely variegated. Erik, the Foxtails were planted many months before the F1 Foxyladies.

I think it’s better classifies as mostly green or mostly variegated that’s my conclusion There are no light colored green leaves and zero variegation. That palm is 100% solid dark healthy green. David the light must be playing tricks in the photo, this palm has zero variegation. Full greens do not have any variegation.
Can anyone tell me where I can buy a small foxy lady or gear me in the right deduction thank you Myolensis triple and the (now infamous) foxy lady… Last year I added three Beccariophoenix alfredii, which I’m really liking so far due to their hardiness, and some Areca palms. I caught the “Palm tree bug” a few years ago when my wife and I wanted to add some planters to our yard, and I’ve been turned into a palm-tree nerd, as i call myself, ever since. So today is my 24 hour soak, I added some super thrive to the water at 1 tsp per gallon and am hoping that my plant drinks it up!

I’m no geneticist, but I’ve heard F2 hybrids of anything can be hugely variable with dominant traits ranging from either parent. Also how f2 compares to f1 on their cold hardiness aswell as growth rate. I have an f2 and am wondering how the look of the palm compares to f1. A guy in my area has them for sale pick up at 200 for a baby 1 gallon pot , he had 4 now he has 3 , i got one today and I am looking forward to watching it grow
Maybe a few other palmtalkers that I sold F2 to can pipe in. The F2 I am growing so far is hard to tell if they will have the vigor yet, but so far, so good. The over variegated ones seem to languish and slowly die or just grow very slow, probably due to lack of chlorophyll. Are they the same as an F1 growth rate? I don’t know the different rates of growth for them in Florida.

Seed from a foxtail palm will only look like foxtail seeds even if something else is going in the seed. But I have had a foxy lady from came off of one of my foxtails…. Anyone have success with seeds from a foxy lady?
I agree with Len, yours is most likely a RSN Hawaiian grown, or Sparksman Florida import that has been resold. If you do the 24hr soak thing, put a weak solution of seaweed extract in the water too. This would happen far more quickly for you than it does for those of us in the humid tropics where the plant tissues survive on atmospheric moisture for ages before the final collapse.

This is a holy grail palm for many of us PTers. Going to a spot in the Los Angeles area If you know anyone looking who would make a good palm parent send em my way. It’s in a 15 gal but it ideally should go in the ground soon, it’s filled in that pot already. Alas, the time has come.
The foxtails are the ones in community pots, and foxyladies are singles in 1 foxy gold gal. It PROVES that it is a true foxy lady,as foxtails are almost never variegated. I’ve got several foxtails (probably too many, but it was the first “exotic” tree that I really liked), some common King palms, and some Kentias. Foxy Lady palms are incredibly fast growing palms and I think yours has a fighting chance if you get it in the ground ASAP and keep it’s rootball watered. It never ceases to amaze me how little water rootbound palms in pots get, even if you soak them everyday.

If this one produces seed, you should be able to tell if they have a chance.. While the largest would flower & produce seed often, most seed i’d collect were empty or basically liquid when opened. The only mature ( and flowering /seeding ) specimens i’m currently familiar with are those in Kopsick’s collection. Floribunda had some f2 foxy ladies a while ago. You did not get a palm that was basically bare root and a palm you specifically said you did not want!!! You got an amazing holy grail palm at a discount price.

I have 2 that look just like a foxtail. I know of 1 other grower in Cape Coral that gets viable seed. Here are a few pics of some of the F2’s that I am growing out to sell. The vast majority of the good looking seed are NOT viable.
